About the Programme
Musicians of Change (PGCEi) is a year-long programme for musicians committed to transforming music education. Uniquely, it focusses on nurturing and building our participants’ ability to deliver excellent, inclusive, group instrumental teaching that reflects the diversity of society and champions the musical lives and futures of young people in schools across the UK.
Delivered in partnership between the award-winning music education charity Music Masters and Birmingham City University’s (BCU) College of Education and Social Work – a global centre of teaching and learning, Musicians of Change provides students with a broad range of professional, practical and academic experiences supported by a world-class team of practitioners, academics and leaders. Students will gain an internationally recognised level 7 qualification and teaching certificate: PGCEi in Group Instrument Learning *.
Who is the programme for?
Music educators of any instrument teachable in groups (whole class ensemble and small groups) in Primary, Secondary and community settings.

What are the minimum skills and experience needed for this programme?
- An undergraduate degree or equivalent level 6 qualification
- Performance level of above Grade 8 or equivalent
- Current experience in teaching or community music leadership experience
