Many Voices Ensemble

“This project with Music Masters is one of the most exciting and imaginative I’ve observed in action so far.”

Sir James MacMillan CBE

At Music Masters, we are constantly on the lookout for brilliant new music for young musicians – music that feels real, artistic, thought-provoking and exciting. More importantly, we want to champion new music that represents the diversity of those young musicians. Music that is accessible, but still rewards ambitious instrumentalists with creative and performance challenges from the school hall to the concert hall.

Many Voices: Ensemble is a brand-new collection of ensemble music by some of the UK’s leading composers, written in collaboration with 8–10-year-olds on our award-winning Schools Programme. This incredible set of pieces, along with a new album from Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective and NMC Recordings, is now available for free to every school or community music-making group with learning for young people at its heart.

And, we’ve created Many Voices: The Toolkit, to inspire composers, music leaders and educators across the UK to follow in our footsteps and make more fantastic new music, together with young people. If every child should have music in their life, it could start here.

"My favourite thing about James MacMillan's piece is the chorus, I love the mysterious energy and it makes me feel happy. It's a very fun song!"

– Esra, Prior Weston Primary School

"Young people are a force to be reckoned with and it’s important to stay connected to that energy as a creator."
