In October, London Music Masters went Back To School with an event designed by the #LMMAlumni!
Following the success of the #SaveOurMusic performances in April, the alumni designed a night of performances, workshops, themed food and a photo exhibition at one of our partner schools, Prior Weston. Back To School showcased the importance of a great music education to our supporters, partners and other figures in the industry.

The evening started with guests being handed ‘homework books’ containing information about LMM, followed by a Headteacher’s address at the mainstage by the terrifying Miss Paine (played by #LMMAlumni member Lois!). The alumni then performed their musical mash-up from #SaveOurMusic, before leading guests to different parts of the school for the next part of the night!

In the ‘Up Like A Rocket room’, guests were given their first violin lesson by #LMMAlumni members Lauren and Lara. By the end of the lesson, guests had been taught how to hold the violin and use the bow, and they learned to play the song ‘Up Like A Rocket’!

Back at the mainstage, the ‘Wheel Of Four-Tunes’ game was hosted by the Year 4 musicians of St Mary’s. Guests were invited to spin the wheel, and the class played or demonstrated whatever the wheel landed on. There were scales, pieces and warm-ups to choose from!

In the School Hall, Miss Paine was hosting ‘LMM’s Got Talent’! Guests were treated to performances by musicians on the LMM Learning and Alumni Programmes, including a special performance by The Four Dragons, a quartet formed during this summer’s Pro Corda Residential. Guests were then able to ask the musicians questions about their journeys as musicians.

The evening ended with a special solo from Libi, followed by a reprise of #SaveOurMusic. Back To School proved to be a big success – a huge congratulations to the #LMMAlumni for creating another fantastic event!
The event was live streamed on Facebook, and the videos are available to view on our page.
