On behalf of everyone at Music Masters we wanted to send our heartfelt thanks to our departing Chair, Simon Freakley, who has stepped down after twelve wonderful and highly impactful years in the role. With Simon at the helm, our growth in recent years has seen the launch of industry-leading initiatives including our Diversity and Inclusion programme for the music sector, I’M IN, and postgraduate teacher training qualification Musicians of Change (PGCEi), through which we’ve developed a national network of over 100 highly trained music educators and a reach of 20,000 children and young people. Simon’s leadership, passion and commercial acumen have also been fundamental in helping Music Masters grow from a locally focused charity to a nationally significant organisation, reaching over 35,000 children and young people UK-wide.

Simon has been a huge part of Music Masters’ story since our very earliest days and we have been incredibly grateful for his guidance, leadership and support in a multitude of ways. We have much to thank him for and we couldn’t be more delighted that he has agreed to remain involved with the charity on our Advisory Panel.

Simon, pictured here at a Music Masters fundraiser with Nicola Benedetti and Music Masters students, told us, ”I’m extremely proud of what Music Masters has achieved during my time as Chair. The positive impact that access to music has on so many young lives cannot be underestimated, and I have greatly enjoyed playing a role. I wish Stuart every success as Chair of this truly remarkable organisation and look forward to seeing its continued growth.”
