What does a great music education mean? At Music Masters, we think it’s one that is creative, bold, and unafraid of change.

This year, more than ever, we aim to push our programme into new territory through an exciting set of changes and new projects.

We are so excited to welcome back parents and families into our schools. Attending their children’s lessons and inviting them to real-life musical performances will be a fantastic start to the year. The return of concerts, ensemble learning and mass audiences will be a wonderful reminder of how music can bring our communities together like nothing else.

Our teachers return with the same drive and passion they have always had, but we start the year with a refreshed approached to training. Whether taking up new leadership roles in our creative projects, taking the floor to share best practice at our termly teacher training days, or participating in our series of PGCEi lecture weekends, we aim to develop a culture of learning, knowledge-sharing and self-reflection within our teaching team.

Our year is punctuated by an incredibly exciting set of events and projects. We’re raring to go with Jordan Bak, our newly inducted Robey Artist in partnership with Young Classical Artists Trust. Plans are already in place for him to meet with our young musicians and teachers in November 2021. We’re sure to be welcoming a few of our other Ambassadors into school as the world of music continues to open up.

Meanwhile, our students will be exploring music activities such as our Year 3 Creative Composition Workshops in Autumn 2021, our returning Community Concert series in Summer 2022 for Year 2 students, and our popular Summer Orchestra Course in July 2022.

We also have big plans for developing a brand-new set of commissioned ensemble pieces called Many Voices: Ensemble, in partnership with NMC Recordings. This is the continuation of our first set of published pieces in 2018, and will involve a diverse cohort of 10 composers, co-creating new music equally performable and artistically relevant for learners and professional musicians. The series is to be released and premiere in late 2022.

We are always willing to learn at Music Masters. We hope that through initiating and exploring new projects and ideas, we can make an impact on others through our various work in advocacy and training. We know we will learn a lot from this coming year and we’re excited for you to join us on that journey.
