In these unparalleled times, it is crucial that the education of our young people and the investment in our cultural heritage continues. At London Music Masters we take both of these duties seriously. Read on to find out how we are adapting and thriving during this difficult time.
Schools
All UK Schools closed last week including our six partner schools in boroughs across London. Despite this, the obligation we have to each of the 1,300 children we work with remains. We are committed to helping them continue to make progress, and maintain a sense of routine and achievement which will be so vital to their wellbeing over the coming weeks. Our team of staff and freelance teachers have been creating physical and online teaching and learning resources and videos for the children, which will pick up precisely where their last in–person lesson left off, ensuring minimal disruption. Every one of our thirty teachers contributed to this comprehensive resource which went live on Monday, and will be updated on a weekly basis. We are excited to see how our children and young people engage with it as they continue to make music in their homes.
Team Teach
Our year-long teacher training programme, for musicians teaching groups of children, is at the halfway point. We have lectures coming up in April which will take place online. The cohort has bonded incredibly well since September which will enable them to continue learning well as a group, even as they access the lectures and take part in discussions from all corners of the country.
Artists
In the coming weeks, we will be working with our community of artists and ambassadors to make sure that the vital links between learners and experienced musicians continue. As we saw last week with Sheku, Guy and Emma-Ruth, these connections are incredibly inspiring and even more so given the restrictions everyone is experiencing.
