Lewis is passionate about ensuring equitable access to the arts, and after studying Drama, Applied Theatre and Education at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, he worked as a freelancer with a focus on creative learning and arts engagement. He then spent four years with The Diana Award’s social mobility and careers education Mentoring programme, facilitating workshops for young people at risk of Not being in Education, Employment or Training, coordinating their London delivery, and finally managing their national team.
