Catherine graduated from the University of Exeter with a BA Music and MA Musicology before embarking on a career in music education. Initially working as a peripatetic woodwind teacher, Catherine studied for a PGCE in KS2/3 Music at Roehampton University and went on to deliver a variety of music service teaching throughout the primary and secondary age range, including curriculum and whole-class ensemble lessons, as well as undertaking music service senior leadership roles.

In 2021 Catherine led on the creation of the new online vocal and instrumental curriculum, A Common Approach, for Music Mark, and since then has undertaken freelance contracts for various music hubs and other music education organisations, designing resources to support progression and systems for curriculum support as well as delivering CPD for vocal and instrumental teachers. Catherine joined Music Masters in September 2024 as Curriculum Development Manager.
