Scottish cellist Alasdair Tait has performed in many of the world’s major concert halls and is also much sought after as a chamber music coach. Prior to his role as Chief Executive of Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT), he held senior teaching posts at GSMD, RNCM and the Reina Sofia in Madrid and continues as a regular professor at Britten Pears Arts, Banff Centre, Stanford University, and ProQuartet in Paris. He is frequently invited as jury member on international competitions such as Melbourne, London and Banff.

Alasdair serves as a trustee of Britten Pears Arts, Countess of Munster Trust, Ann Driver Trust, and in 2016 was awarded the ABO (Association of British Orchestras) Artist Manager of the Year. He was made Fellow of the RNCM in 2016 and is also a Fellow of the Westminster Abbey Institute.

Whilst cellist of the Belcea Quartet until 2006, Alasdair recorded for EMI, winning both a Gramophone Award and Diapason d’Or. The Quartet were Resident Ensemble at Wigmore Hall, BBC New Generation Artists and were twice winners of a Royal Philharmonic Society Award.
