We are delighted to announce Nicola Benedetti CBE as an LMM Teacher Training Ambassador!
As LMM Teacher Training Ambassador, Nicola has backed the new teaching qualification launched by London Music Masters. The PGCEi, which specialises in Group Instrument Training, is currently open for applications for the September 2019 cohort and there are 85% bursaries available. On the PGCEi, Nicola said the course “will give teachers the support they need to thrive in the classroom.”
Nicola, who began violin lessons at the age of five and studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School, was the youngest ever recipient of the Queen’s Medal for Music in 2017, and was awarded a CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for services to Music in 2019. The Scottish violinist is a tireless advocate for music education, and gave the keynote speech at this year’s Music & Education Expo.
Nicola has worked with London Music Masters since its inception, performing in school assemblies, working with LMM Teachers and leading workshops with the young musicians.
On the ambassadorial role, Nicola said “my role is to try to help make sure that it’s known what they (LMM) do and it serves as an inspiration of what can be done.
“The ambassadorial role also offers a mutual benefit in the communication between myself and the directors of LMM. They’re obviously constantly trying to mastermind, to make the programme as effective and successful for the children as possible, and we’re all asking big questions all the time and trying to come up with better and better answers.”
