Our Pathways programme is designed for students with backgrounds underrepresented in classical music, who would otherwise face barriers in accessing the musical opportunities Music Masters gives them. Pathways aims to unlock their potential, and actively foster the next generation of diverse musical talent.
Even though our pupils’ learning has been disrupted over the past year, we were determined to help them thrive. Randall Goosby, the inaugural Robey Artist in partnership with YCAT, mentored them over Zoom from his home in New York, and inspired them to perfect a selection of pieces. Thanks to the generosity of Wigmore Hall, they were able to perform them on a world-class stage. This musical showcase aims to show you just how transformative music can be to a child’s life, in empowering potential.
Pathways: Empowering Potential is first and foremost a thank you to everyone who has supported our pupils’ musical journeys over the past year. However, we still need to fundraise for our future. Our work in schools
Creating musical possibility is where our passion lies, and our Schools Programme is where it all begins. While children and young people are central to our journey, it’s not only them we seek to inspire with our programmes – parents, school leaders, teachers and funders are all part of our mission to create a world where everyone experiences the power of music.
I’M IN – The Inclusive Music Index
We work with a variety of partners to develop projects that strengthen diversity and inclusion in education and the music sector. Last year, we launched I’M IN, a diversity and inclusion strategy tool created by the music sector to change the music sector.
The Music Masters PGCEi
Transforming the world of music education requires outstanding teachers. That’s why we run our very own teacher training course, the year-long PGCEi in Group Instrument Learning. Group lessons are crucial for young musicians to build confidence and create a sense of community, so there is a focus on making sure every teacher is highly trained in this delivery method.
Ambassadors and Artists
A core part of our Schools Programme involves working with some of the world’s most inspiring and celebrated musical artists, who regularly come into our Partner Schools to spend time with the children. Their role is to design and lead a programme of musical activity for our students, using their own practices as inspiration.
