Lord Dennis Stevenson
Stevenson has set up a wide range of businesses from consulting to biotech to cloud computing – and has Chaired a number of large companies (Pearson, HBOS, GPA). He Chaired a commission to advise the then Prime Minister on the application of ICT in education. He was Chairman of the Trustees of the Tate for 10 years after which he became Chancellor of the University of the Arts for 10 years. He was Chairman of Aldeburgh Music for about 15 years.
He is a long-time campaigner for greater understanding and treatment of mental illness, including speaking out about his own experiences of depression. Stevenson founded MQ: Transforming Mental Health, ‘the UK’s leading mental health research charity’, and promoted a Private Members’ Bill – the “Mental Health (Discrimination) Bill” – the first step in the UK to removing a number of the key discriminations against people who suffer from mental illness.
