At London Music Masters, our pupils have access to great teaching and incredible musical experiences – a combination which enables them to thrive as young musicians. However, equally important is our pupils’ well-being. As a result, twice a year (November and June) the LMM Learning Team spends two weeks in our partner schools, supporting every child in Year 2 – 6 on our programme to self-complete digital surveys which pose questions not just about their enjoyment of learning and playing music but also about their levels of confidence, happiness and much more. Alongside this, children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are assessed by our teachers with support from class teachers. This ensures we receive data for each and every child on our musicianship and instrumental programmes.
With our June data collection period completed, we look ahead to the summer where we will be analysing data obtained from 2017/18 to help us to understand how our programme impacts our children musically, socially and emotionally, and planning improvements accordingly. Feeding the children’s own opinions back into the way we design and run LMM Learning is essential, and a significant part of our commitment to ensuring Youth and Child Voice sits at the heart of our work.
