Between Friday 21 August and Wednesday 26 August London Music Masters received unsolicited donations from credit card holders via the Stripe payments platform. 

This is the result of fraudulent activity referred to as card testing. Stolen credit cards are tested by making small transactions to determine whether cards can be used to make purchases. More information on card testing can be found here: https://stripe.com/docs/card-testing  

LMM’s data protection systems are robust. The credit card information was not accessed via LMM databases and no existing LMM donors have had their details compromised. Rather, our public payments platform, used securely by millions of businesses worldwide, has been exploited by criminals. 

We have temporarily suspended our Stripe payments platform. It will remain suspended until all of the fraudulent payments have been returned. We conducting a review of our processes to further reduce the likelihood of being unwitting participants in fraudulent activity. 

All unsolicited donations will be repaid promptly. Queries regarding fraudulent activity on your card should be made to your credit card provider and reported to the police.
