2016-17 is an exciting year for London Music Masters! Having welcomed our seventh school onto the programme in September, more than 1,350 children now receive music tuition through LMM Learning – a 100% increase in pupils since last year.
A major factor in this increase comes from the expansion of our musicianship programme beyond Reception (children aged 4 – 5) into Key Stages 1 and 2 (children aged 5 – 11), following an intensive period of curriculum planning and training in the summer. In addition, in September we launched a lower strings programme for our youngest instrumental learners and are delighted that experienced performer and tutor Helen Neilson has joined the London Music Masters team as Cello Consultant to support us with teacher training and development.
Following a successful pilot orchestra last year, Ashmole Primary School now benefits from two London Music Masters -led orchestras and October saw the launch of Jessop Primary’s orchestra. These weekly extra-curricular sessions are non-compulsory, yet are already proving hugely popular with our young musicians!
