Sarah Hill
Sarah grew up in Somerset – after her big brother started the violin through a free Suzuki programme at their school, Sarah wanted to be just like him and started herself! Music gifted her some amazing opportunities growing up including a memorable trip to San Francisco with National Youth Strings Academy that developed her love for chamber music and travel. Sarah continued her studies in music at the University of Manchester, studying violin with Julia Fischer and travelling to Romania to research her dissertation on Balkan Gypsy music. Before starting a Masters in violin performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Sarah built up music education experience with Wigan Music Service, training in Dalcroze, and devising her own music workshops. Since moving to London, Sarah has continued to develop her workshop leading skills, including training with Spitalfields Skills Lab and completing a research project at Trinity on workshop leading. Sarah has worked with Music Masters since 2012 where she is a staff teacher, mentor on their PGCEi Team Teach programme and supports their commitment to inclusive teaching as SEN/D lead. Sarah has developed a real love for working within the primary school community and opening up a love of music and wider opportunities for children and their families. Sarah is also a freelance violinist and baroque violinist and has particularly enjoyed playing in community settings including with Apollo Music Projects, Opus Music, Sinfonia Viva and Street Orchestra Live.
