Our wonderful teachers Rachel and Rosanne have put together five tips for helping parents with homeschooling music...
- Short and sweet! Regular short practice for your child is much more efficient than one long practise session. Try to schedule 15 minutes practice into your child’s daily routine.
- Practise without playing! No instrument at home? Can’t wake the baby? Practise away from the instrument! Sing the pieces you’re working on, listen to them, write them out: be creative!
- Musical Breakfast! Listen to the pieces your child is working on whilst the whole family eats together. This will help develop their understanding of the piece.
- Taking a break! Music should be fun. Whilst it’s important to encourage your child to practise regularly, a day off can be equally important!
- Support is there if you need it! Homeschooling music is a challenge. Know your limits and respect them. Talk to your child's teacher if they need more support!
