Katrina trained as a classical violinist and singer (Purcell School, Royal Northern College of Music, Royal Holloway University of London) before graduating with a Masters in Ethnomusicology at SOAS. Here, alongside establishing her own teaching practice, she developed a special interest in conservatoire training environments, professional musician – teacher identities and how these function in the broader music education sector. Katrina is a passionate advocate for diversifying teaching repertoire to provide children with rich music making opportunities, and is dedicated to supporting musicians with training and community to thrive as inclusive leaders and educators. A self confessed training nerd herself, Katrina was a Clore Emerging Leader in 2021 and is currently studying for her PGCert in Higher Education at BCU.
