Lara Ali
Emerging Educator (Intern)
Lara Aisha is a graduating classical flautist from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Her performance practice centres cross-genre improvisation and the combination of flutes with electronics. Her experience in performing arts education spans teaching group ballet classes, one-to-one woodwind lessons and improvisation workshops. Lara’s engagement with contemporary classical flute music during her undergraduate studies led her to undertake extensive research into the history of the flute’s development and its global presence. Within that research, she has strived to champion flute music by underrepresented/black composers, programming the pieces she discovers for her solo and chamber performances. Her principles around the decolonisation of music curricula have led her to further studies in ethnomusicology at SOAS.
